Creepy Crawlies. Boys Will Be Boys!

I'll admit it, of all the 150+ critters to choose from at CCC, these are not my favourites. But then, we have customers who are rascally boys, practical jokesters, science teachers, and budding entomologists who think they're the best thing ever!

This multi-legged collection was the creepy highlight of a Halloween wedding too (although I'm trying VERY hard to avoid thinking of that particular wedding cake!).
Sure, I'll always be drawn to the beautiful and colourful butterflies and dragonflies in the collection, but these realistic crawlers are made and hand-cut with the same care and attention, and of course they have their place. Just don't make it my place, okay? :-)

Natural or Fantasy?

In nature we find some of the most intense and vibrant colours, exotic shapes that dazzle the eye, and extraordinary adaptation to habitat. In many of our CCC butterflies and dragonflies, you can see these wonders of nature in all their variety, and they're favourites with teachers, brides, and anyone who wants to include some of their charm and beauty in decor, scrapbooking, crafts and so many other uses.

But sometimes what's needed just can't be found in nature. That's where fantasy designs can be perfect for your needs. Some examples:

  • Heart-themed red butterflies for Valentine's Day or to embellish a scrapbook page about a romantic event.
  • Rainbow-colour ladybugs, just for fun, or to make a subtle statement.
  • Flower-lovers' butterflies with roses on their wings.
  • Patriotic "Stars and Stripes" butterflies, for our American friends' July 4, or welcome-home celebrations for returning service personnel.

Black and White - Always Fashionable

It's true that we usually associate butterflies, dragonflies, ladybugs, and fairies with brilliant colours, but that hasn't stood in the way of creative brides and crafters!
When it comes to creating a distinctive look, black and white never goes out of style. Alone, or in combination with silver, gold, translucent, or accent colours, a black and white theme can be anything from avant garde to traditional.
And what about an all-black theme? Perhaps butterflies instead of bats, for all those fans looking forward to the next "Twilight" film?

Butterflies for All Ages

This weekend I visited an elderly relative, a lady of 87 years who has always found joy in family, nature, and crafts. So it was an obvious choice to take along some of my collection of 3D butterflies for her. She always has a decorative or seasonal wreath on the door of her suite, and I thought she might like to make one with a butterfly theme for Spring!

Of course we're used to brides and scrapbookers being delighted with their butterflies, and it was such a pleasure to see how thrilled this lady from another generation was with hers too. She had folded a few while we chatted, and I wouldn't be surprised if she'll be ordering more in her favourite Springtime colours very soon.

How Butterflies Migrate ... To Your House!

I have a mental picture of the post office arriving with a big, square, white box that's moving a little as all the butterflies inside shift around trying to get out and into your hands.  Of course that's a Disneyish image, and nothing like the reality of how CCC 3D butterflies, dragonflies, fairies and ladybugs really arrive at your door.

In fact, your order arrives flat, for some very good reasons:

  • To keep shipping charges down - butterflies are light, and keeping their physical size down too helps you save on postage.
  • For 3D flexibility - brides, for example, sometimes like to vary how much dimension they see in the butterflies on their cakes and decorations, ranging from flat to having their wings raised high. You choose, based on how you fold them!
  • Different uses need different looks - scrapbookers and cardmakers usually want their butterflies to be flat, while customers for home-decor critters often like a little more dimension. You fold them, so it's totally your choice!

Whether you select one of the standard range, or yours is a custom order, it will be designed, made, selected, packaged and shipped to deliver the best we can, right to your door.
